Recently, an accident was reported involving the driver of a pickup who crashed into a New Braunfels, Texas church bus, killing 13 people. The driver later admitted to texting while driving.

Cell phone use is a major contributor to distracted driving. A National Highway Transportation Safety Administration study found texting while driving is approximately six times more likely to cause an accident than driving intoxicated, which we know is not acceptable, and drivers are 23 times more likely to crash while texting and driving.

Brock’s Bsafe/Bbest culture is not a workplace-only concept, but a mindset that we carry with us to our homes and social interactions. We are responsible for maintaining safety at all times, including when driving. This means not using an electronic device when it’s not safe to do so, but also intervening when we see others engaged in unsafe driving behaviors.
